LIMITATION
The term 'limitation period' refers in general to the time within which legal action must be taken. The CICA limitation period means that applications must be received by the CICA within two years of the event causing injury however the CICA does have discretion to extend this period in certain relatively rare circumstances. There are other time limits which may apply during the course of a CICA claim. Failure to abide by a time limitation may mean that the opportunity to claim compensation is lost forever.
